Iran Condemns Israel's Attack on UN-Run School in Gaza, Blasts Western Silence

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has vehemently condemned Israel's recent attack on a UN-run school for Palestinian refugees in Gaza, sharply criticizing the regime's Western supporters for their silence on its actions.

Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani made the remarks in a late Sunday post on the social media platform X.

"The attack by the infanticide Zionist regime on a school run by UNRWA (the UN agency for Palestinian refugees) in the Gaza Strip has once again revealed the dark and hidden side of the claimant West to the entire world," he said.

Kan'ani's comments followed the earlier Sunday incident where Israeli forces targeted a UNRWA school in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people and injuries to 80 others.

The school was struck as Israel continues its systematic targeting of shelters, schools, and UNRWA facilities across the besieged territory in its ongoing conflict.

"A regime that started its disgraceful life with occupation, massacre, assassination, killing of women and children, and destruction of Palestinians' homes cannot be expected to behave in a humane manner based on international norms, because it has been founded on crime," Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated.

Kan'ani added, "However, the regrettable reality is the silence and inaction of Western and European governments that claim to be advocates of morality, law, and human rights."

The Iranian official criticized Israel's Western backers, saying despite the high volume of Israel's crimes and barbarity, "they are still deceiving public opinion and playing with words and phrases."

"The United States and some European governments that support the Zionist regime, along with the regime itself, are the main losers of the war on Gaza," the Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesperson said.

Kan'ani concluded by saying, "They have not only lost the war but also human morality and honor."

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas also condemned the attack, calling it "an extension of the ongoing war of extermination against our defenseless civilians...which is a blatant Zionist challenge to the international community and a disregard of the UN demands for stopping the aggression against our people."

The conflict in Gaza has so far resulted in the deaths of 38,584 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and left 88,881 others injured.
